February/March 2008:
Journeys

I’m following plants that have made a journey across the world from their native Australasia- ‘bridging the oceans’ to settle here. You can find them under glass in Sunderland, outside at Kew, or in your own back garden. As I build up sketches and photos I’ll be trying out different approaches to making art from the material that reflects the journey they have made.
Native plants were to the fore among the Lakes of Cumbria in January. But in the Western Highlands last week the weather was the main actor on the scene! snow, sun, rain and rainbows- a drama played out for the artist’s benefit- I hope we can do it justice
