Courses are based at Weston House, a spacious Victorian house in the centre of Bampton, Devon. There are two art studios in the house, converted from the original tailor’s workshop and retail outlet. For full information visit the Weston House website...

The main painting workshop is a large well-lit area on the second floor, with the smaller mosaic studio on the ground floor -this forms additional painting space if required. Behind the house is a private town garden, which we employ for shorter painting sessions.

Accommodation: Day courses at the studio include buffet lunch served at the house. We aim to use fresh seasonal produce and local ingredients as far as possible, as well as fair trade products.

For our painting holidays we offer accommodation at the house for up to six people, with en-suite or private bathroom, as well as all meals (other than lunches on days out).

If there is a course place available but our residential accommodation is full, you can still book at the non-resident price - including all meals except breakfast.

Alternatively we can provide information on bed and breakfast accommodation within walking distance.

Bampton is a small country town on the Devon/Somerset border, close to the Exmoor and Blackdown Hills National Parks and the Exe Valley Way. Bampton retains many traditional shops including post office, baker, butcher and greengrocer. You will also find pubs, tearooms and restaurants, and the thirteenth century church. Local events include Bampton Charter Fair in October, held since medieval times, and Open Gardens in the summer.

Transport: Bampton is within 12 miles both of main line trains at Tiverton Parkway, and the M5 motorway. Let us know if you require transport from the station for your residential course. We are also on bus routes to Tiverton, Taunton and Minehead, the Exe Valley way and Sustrans cycle route 3 from Padstow to Bath.

Area: We are close to many beautiful gardens in Devon and West Somerset, including National Trust Properties at Knighthayes, Dunster, Killerton and Barrington Court, the Jekyll/Lutyens restored garden at Hestercombe, East Lambrook Manor, Tintinhull and Cothay Manor in Somerset, and Gardens of North Devon including Arlington Court , Marwood Hill, Tapeley Park, Castle Hill, Glebe Cottage and of course the RHS garden at Rosemoor. Nearby are the Devon and Somerset Coasts, Dartmoor, the historic city of Exeter, the South West Coast path, and many other attractions.
